Xinhua News Agency, Mar-a-Lago, the United States, April 7 (Reporter Chen Cong) Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump pledged during their meeting on the 7th to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and manage differences on the basis of mutual respect.

The two leaders also agreed that their first meeting at Mar-a-Lago, a seaside resort in Florida, USA, was “positive and productive.”

During the past two days of talks, Xi Jinping and Trump exchanged views on key areas of bilateral cooperation as well as global and regional issues of common concern.

Xi Jinping expressed that my first meeting with the US leader is of special significance to the development of China-US relations.

He said that during the meeting, the two sides also enhanced mutual understanding, strengthened mutual trust, reached a number of important consensuses, and established a good working relationship.

Xi Jinping stressed that the two sides should further enhance the level of China-US relations, so as to better benefit the two countries and their peoples and better promote world peace and prosperity.

During the talks, Xi Jinping also told Trump that China welcomes the United States’ participation in cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Before the second round of talks between the two heads of state, senior officials from China and the United States launched two newly established dialogue mechanisms on economy, diplomacy and security.
