Libreville, Tuesday, August 20, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – On Friday, August 16, the day before the commemorations of the 64th anniversary of Gabon’s independence, the Transitional President laid a wreath at the mausoleum of Gabon’s first president, Léon Mba, the father of Gabon’s independence, in the center of Libreville.

The ceremony was attended by several political figures, including members of the transitional government, members of the Commission for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI) and family members of President Leon Mba. Shortly after laying the wreath, General Blaise Clotel Origi Nguema went to visit 106-year-old Catherine Mba, the fourth wife of former President Leon Mba, who is still deeply affected by the loss of his wife in 1967 and with whom she has several children.

The tribute to President Leon Mba underlines Gabon’s recognition of its first President, who played a leading role in the country’s independence process on August 17, 1960.
