On June 6, World Vision Cambodia issued a press release on the situation of Cambodian children, saying that by 2023, child welfare agencies will improve the lives of 1.5 million Cambodian children. World Vision said that these children can get clean water, quality education, better nutrition and health care services from international development partners, civil society organizations and the private sector in cooperation with the government.

World Vision estimates that by 2023, nearly 80,000 children will receive nutritious breakfasts through school feeding programs. The organization believes that school-based food programs have made a significant contribution to the reduction of enrollment and dropout rates. In addition, more than 13,000 children and adolescents have received life-related protection skills training, and nearly 30,000 community members have participated in child protection behavior change courses.
World Vision Cambodia’s representative confirmed to Radio France Internationale (RFI) on June 7 that more than 1.5 million children will have a better life by 2023, with access to nutrition, education and prevention in 20 provinces. As an aid agency, World Vision confirmed that it worked closely with the Cambodian government to develop Notice No. 233 on the 2023 Child Protection Code of Conduct.
The Ministerial Order protects, eliminates and responds to all types of child abuse and safeguards the rights, safety, well-being and dignity of all children. World Vision’s goal to reach 5 million Cambodian children by 2027 includes key priorities such as improving adaptation strategies and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
However, World Vision Cambodia Country Director Jean Emmanuel Genting called for greater collaboration as a force for positive change to ensure a bright future and environment for Cambodian children and communities.
