Sports Chosun, organizer of the prestigious Blue Dragon Film Awards, launched South Korea’s first awards ceremony dedicated to streaming platforms in 2022. Recognizing the significant growth of original content in the streaming industry, the Blue Dragon Awards Series honors outstanding achievements in dramas and variety shows produced by streaming services, as distinct from traditional TV networks.
The star-studded awards ceremony was held at Paradise City in Incheon on July 19, 2024. Girls’ Generation’s Yoona and Jeon Hyun-moo served as hosts for the third consecutive year.
The highest honor of the night was awarded to “Moving”. The leading actors of the drama, Ko Yoon-jung and Lee Jung-ha, won the Best New Actress Award and the Best New Actor Award respectively.
Daily Dose of Sunshine won the Best TV Drama Award, with lead actress Park Bo-young taking home the Best Actress Award. In the Best Actor category, Im Si-wan was recognized for his performance in Boyhood. The Best Variety Show Award went to Community, rounding out the awards night for excellence in streaming content.
