Muscat: The Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism will organise a roadshow in India from August 20 to 28 to introduce and promote the tourism potential of the Sultanate of Oman in the Indian market.
The seminar will be held in four major cities, starting in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and ending in Bengaluru, and will be attended by a delegation led by Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidi, Undersecretary of Tourism.
These roadshows are very important as more than 600,000 Indians visited the Sultanate of Oman in 2023 and more than 300,000 Indians visited the Sultanate of Oman in the first six months of this year.
Indian tourists
It is worth noting that the Sultanate of Oman received about 2 million foreign tourists in the first half of this year, an increase of 7% over the same period last year.
According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), 316,890 of them were Indian tourists, along with those from the UAE (578,351), Yemen (107,705), Germany (83,054) and the UK (49,069).
Meanwhile, in 2023, more than 600,000 Indians visited the country, and the number of tourists in the Sultanate exceeded 4 million.
Besides the fact that there are several direct flights between the two countries (some destinations take as little as two hours and as long as about four hours), the Sultanate is one of the nearest tourist destinations for Indians.
About the Roadshow
The Sultanate of Oman offers a simplified e-visa for Indian nationals. Certain categories of Indian passport holders can enjoy a 14-day visa-free entry.
About the Roadshow
The roadshow aims to promote Oman’s tourism products tailored to the needs of Indian tourists, particularly wedding, events, conferences and exhibitions destinations.
The roadshow will also showcase the latest developments in Oman’s tourism industry and some of the upcoming promotions through the participation of travel companies, hotels and tour operators.
The seminar will also provide an opportunity for officials and representatives of various companies and institutions in the Omani tourism industry to meet their counterparts from the Republic of India and be introduced to other facilities and services.
