When it comes to choosing a hairstyle, one of the most important factors that directly affects your choice and will definitely influence your choice is your face shape. For most of our lives, we often think of ourselves as having a certain face shape, such as oval, but in reality it is round.

In fact, there are many more categories and the most important thing is – all faces are different. What can help you choose the ideal hairstyle is to define at least some of the main features. But how do you know if your face is round, oval, heart or diamond?

Not to mention there are combinations of categories. A hairdresser can tell you what hairstyle will suit you just by looking at your facial bone structure. That’s why we asked them for their thoughts.

Oval faces don’t have sharp features, they are faces with less pronounced bones and a forehead that is slightly wider than the chin – imagine an upside down egg. Most hairstyles have the effect of softening sharp facial features, which is why all hairstyles are suitable for oval faces.

Next is the square face, where the maximum width and height of the face itself are roughly equal, with a well-defined jawline. Long, layered hair can soften the harshness, and bangs and shorter hair around the face are their best friends.

The width and height of a round face are similar to a square face, except that round faces don’t have sharp lines and a less pronounced jawline. You’ll want to add sharpness and shape to this face, and short haircuts, bob haircuts, and side parts look perfect on them.

The diamond-shaped face has the most prominent bones. In the age of Instagram and the famous cat-eye makeup method, most women who undergo surgery and makeup strive to have this face shape: high cheeks and a pointed chin. If we want to soften these obvious features, the best effect is achieved with waves, curls and volume.

Oblong faces have a prominent chin, but the height is greater than the width of the face. They are best suited for a center parting, which will make the face shape more oval, and bangs that can visually shorten the face.

The heart shape is similar to the diamond shape, but it has a wider forehead and a noticeably narrow and sharp chin. Side partings suit them well, as well as bobs and lobs, anything that visually narrows the forehead and brings curves to the chin. Long side bangs are also a good choice.

There are several ways to define your face shape. The first is to measure the defined dimensions of your face using the Schneider meter. If the height and width are the same, then your face is either round or square, and depending on the sharpness of your chin, you can determine which of the two it is. If your forehead is wider than your chin, then your face is either heart-shaped or diamond-shaped. If the height of your face is greater than the width, then your face is either rectangular or oval.

In the end, no two round faces are the same and these are by no means rules that define what kind of hairstyle you must have, however you want to cut your hair and however you feel looks best. If you want to experiment with your hair and explore your face, read this guide.
