“I decided to take a chance and hired a group of ten people I didn’t know, my home and my family. “I think their advertising was very good and all my interactions with them showed that they were the nicest people who wanted to come to Þjóðhát and have fun,” Skæringur said.

This is a group of people made up of the band Húbba Búbba and their relatives.

When Skylingur returned, it was clear that a lot was going on in his family.

“Worse still, several picture frames, a wall clock, some glass, a window in the front door, a light bulb, sconces were ripped off the wall, a plate was broken in the kitchen cupboard, and all the floors and window sills were littered with used nicotine packets, pieces of chewing gum, broken glass and general rubbish,” Skæringur said.

He hadn’t finished everything that needed to be done, but he had to hire outside people to clean the apartment, five people.

“It took us six hours to finish cleaning up here, but we still see broken glass from time to time,” said Skylingur. It’s not auspicious to have a seven-month-old baby in these conditions.

He said the damage was at least ISK 200,000, but the boys bargained down to ISK 150,000.

“But what I find most disrespectful about this is that they didn’t realize the point of the apology until they agreed on it. And then out of nowhere came this filthy apology,” Skellingour said.

“One cannot guarantee what one’s companions will do on National Day”

Eythór Aron Wöhler, a South Korean football player who was one of the key figures in the social media team of Hälla Tómasdóttir’s presidential campaign and a member of the band Húbba Búbba, said the case was a misunderstanding.

“I know the boys who live there now, but I wasn’t there. It’s a silly issue and it’s sad to be involved in it,” Eythór said.

He said he knew the boys and said he “gave them some gum on Friday.”

“Of course, it was just a misunderstanding and not a valid argument,” said Essør. He said he could not be held responsible for what his teammates did at Þjóðhátít, but that the way things turned out was certainly sad.
