When should I apply for VGM scholarship?
The scholarship application calendar for the 2024-2025 academic year has not yet been announced. However, last semester, applications for secondary education scholarships were received between October 1 and 31. Applications for tertiary education scholarships were made between October 20 and 31. Applications are expected to be received within the same date range for the new academic year.
How much is the VGM scholarship?
The amount of scholarships for the new academic year has not yet been announced. From October of the 2023-2024 academic year, the amount of educational aid for secondary education is set at 750.00 liras per month, the amount of scholarships for higher education is set at 1.250.00 liras per month, and the amount of scholarships for higher education for foreign students is set at 1.250.00 liras per month. From January 2024, the amount of higher education scholarships has increased to 2,000.00 liras.
Who cannot benefit from the VGM Higher Education Scholarship?
a) Students who are employed permanently and earn a wage or income of at least the minimum wage level,
b) foreign students,
c) Police and military cadets,
ç) Students who study for an additional period of time,
d) Masters and doctoral students,
e) Students who receive free educational assistance and scholarships from public institutions,
f) Students who receive poverty pension from the General Administration,
g) Students who received the scholarship from the General Administration in the previous academic year but whose scholarship was terminated due to failure will no longer receive higher education scholarships.
With the approval of the Minister to whom the General Directorate belongs, scholarships can be provided to foreign students coming to Turkey for education, with 10% of the scholarship quota determined by the General Directorate.
Who cannot benefit from the VGM Secondary Education Scholarship?
Students whose siblings receive secondary education scholarships from the General Directorate of Foundations, students who receive free education assistance and scholarships from public institutions, and students who receive poverty pensions from the General Directorate of Foundations are not eligible for secondary education scholarships.
Kindergarten students in public schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education do not receive secondary education scholarships, and students who are not Turkish citizens cannot receive secondary education scholarships. Students who are eligible for scholarships during their formal education in public schools will have their scholarships canceled if they transfer to private schools, open education middle schools, open education high schools, or vocational open education high schools.
