It wouldn’t be the Kids’ Choice Awards without some slime. a lot of and a lot of of Mucus.

Of course, getting the slime recipe from anyone involved in the KCA is like trying to break into Fort Knox, but it’s always fun to ask. Its ingredients are a closely guarded secret, just like Your Grandmother’s Famous Apple Pie Recipeas Nickelodeon has told me in the past. When I asked about the substance during testing, they jokingly told me the slime was made up of “funny stuff” — but I did learn that it’s non-toxic and safe to ingest.
For the slime test, my three kids dressed in old clothes—though at the last minute, they opted to wear capes after watching the first test subject get slime all over his face (a decision they later regretted)—and prepared to get drenched in lots of green goo. Afterward, I asked them how the experience was. Read a transcript of our conversation below. (TL;DR version: They loved it.)
How does it feel to become slime?
Brooklyn The slime hit me with a violent force.
Brayden I was surprised at how hard it pushed me back in and how much came out.
Brianna It’s sticky. It’s a quote.
Apparently, you can eat it. It is edible.
Brooklyn I want to eat it!
How did you feel before you walked up to the test, before the mucus came out?
Brooklyn I was really scared before I stood up and got covered in slime. I was like, why am I doing this?
Brayden I was terrified and I was shaking because the feeling was so intense.
Brianna It was cold and I was nervous. I was shaking. It lasted longer than I thought it would.
Brooklyn I put the cape over my face so the slime wouldn’t get on my face.
Tell me about the cleanup process.
Brayden I don’t want to do it. I don’t want to clean it up.
I mean, clean yourself up.
Brayden Oh – not fun.
How long did it take you to clean up?
Brayden 5 minutes.
Brianna At least seven. I’m still picking them up. (In fact, when we got home they still found slime stuck to their bodies, from hair to feet.)
Would you do it again?
Brayden Yeah, but I won’t wear a cape next time because I think it would be fun to be more gooey.
Brooklyn Yes, no poncho, because it’s more fun without one.
How do you think celebrities feel when they are standing on stage in fancy clothes and being smeared with slime?
Brayden Very surprised.
Brianna depressed?
Brayden I mean, I don’t think they’d be mad because they have money. You know, if I was stuck in a suit, I’d be really mad, but they have tons of money.
Brianna Sometimes, I see them change (after they are covered in slime), so I think they wear better looking clothes after they are covered in slime.
Brooklyn Oh, I don’t think they’re upset because they’re celebrities, aren’t they? should About to happen?
What advice can you give to celebrities who attend award shows but might end up with a thin layer of oil on their faces?
Brayden Expect it to happen.
Brooklyn Expect this to be difficult.
Brayden Bring a change of clothes.
Brianna Don’t wear nice shoes. You will regret it.
How would you feel if you had no idea it was going to happen and you were just standing there in your normal clothes?
Brianna I’ll be scared. I’ll jump away because I’ll be scared.
Brayden I would probably be shocked and scared.
Brooklyn I would be delighted and surprised.
Do you wish you had a slime machine in your front yard so you could spray slime on people as they walk down the street?
Brianna In fact, as long as it doesn’t hit me, it’s fine.
If someone asked you how your overall experience was, what would you say?
Brayden Very intense, worthwhile and very entertaining, I’d say.
Brianna Quick, worthwhile, fun, and squishy.
Brooklyn Very tough. Scary, tense and fun.
Is there anything else you would like to tell your friends about weight loss?
Brooklyn I would tell my friends Arianna and Reese that it was hard, and I would say, “I think you should do this.”
Brianna Very messy.
Brayden I get all slimy.
The 2024 Kids’ Choice Awards will be presented live on July 13 at 8pm ET/PT on Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, MTV2, TV Land and Nick Jr. This year’s nominees Rounding out the top six was Taylor Swift, who performed six songs, followed by Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Beyoncé and Travis Kelce.
Nickelodeon also revealed this week During the Kids’ Choice Awards, it will offer live audio description for blind and visually impaired viewers. This enhancement will provide live audio voice-over descriptions of key visual elements of the show, which will be available on the Accessible Audio Program (SAP) channel provided by Descriptive Video Works. Live audio description will be available on all broadcasts.
