West Indies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel, 36, said on social media that he has retired from international cricket with immediate effect.
Since making his West Indies debut in 2012, the right-hander has played 59 Test matches, 25 one-day matches and two T20 Internationals across the three formats, registering a total of 202 strikeouts.
“For the past 12 years I have dedicated my life to representing the West Indies in international cricket,” Gabriel wrote on Instagram on Wednesday.
“Playing this beloved sport at the highest level has brought me endless joy, but as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Today, I am announcing my retirement from international cricket.”
The fast bowler from Trinidad and Tobago took 13 wickets in the 2018 Test match against Sri Lanka at Gros Islet, the fourth-best tally by a West Indies bowler.
His last appearance for the West Indies was in a Test match against India in Port of Spain last year.
