Ragna María Sverrisdóttir recently graduated from the Iceland Business School as a Duluth, taking first place in physics in the science course and even having an average of 10. Ragna was born in 2006 and is therefore a year ahead of her peers in education.
After graduation, Ragnar also won awards in Icelandic, mathematics and physics.
how did you do it?
“I just tried to work hard and learn hard. The key is to have a good plan so you can do more with it, and if you find it early, you’re in a good position,” Ragnar said.
“If you have a good plan, things will be easy. Therefore, it is important to start all projects immediately and do your homework consistently so that the results will be good.”
Multiple Olympian
In addition to the duel, Ragnar will also compete in this year’s Mathematical Olympiad in Bath, England. This is not Ragnar’s first time competing in the Olympics, but her first Olympics will be in Oslo, Norway in 2022.
Learning must be challenging, right?
“Of course, but it’s also fun. Of course, I focus on studying, but it’s also fun to participate in these competitions and training camps abroad.
Then I also took part in some biology competitions, but last year I also took part in the Physics Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, which was really fun.”
What do you like most about all of this?
“The school is fun and the teachers are all very, very nice. So there is always a lot to do and it’s fun,” Ragnar added.
“I will also be attending a camp in Denmark this summer along with other Nordic countries, where we will learn about various sub-disciplines that can be useful in math competitions, such as number theory, calculus, algebra and geometry.”
To further study mathematics
When asked what he plans to do next, Ragnar said his goal is to further study math this fall.
As for advice for those who want to achieve the same success as her, Ragnar said people should work steadily, be organized, be efficient, and then of course give their best. This is the key to success.
