Habibi Tamino came to comfort us after the disaster: Concert diary
The concert of Tamino, which I was looking forward to, was the concert of the year for me, and it usually takes place when I can’t go to concerts. This was my misfortune. As you may remember, the first date of the concert was February 18th after the earthquake/disaster, and the information about the concert’s cancellation or postponement was not known until the concert date was close. I was furious and wrote letters everywhere, and finally Tamino announced that his concert was postponed to March. Although the earthquake hit the southeastern Anatolia region, the trauma caused was a trauma for the entire country. And, as I thought about this day and night, because I work in the field of humanitarian aid, because I used to live in Antakya, my heart beats with my friends, I have a connection with Antakya, I got into a state of mind that attending any concert was a small betrayal. Yes, his concert was postponed, but in my opinion, it was still close. But when it came to Tamino, I couldn’t cancel the ticket. My final decision was to “take care of myself” so that I can continue to work in this field. As we know, self-care. I went to the concert to experience catharsis, and friends guess what? Not surprisingly, Tamino, whom I loved like a brother (for reasons hidden in my own story), gave concerts for those who had lost their lives in the earthquake and flood. Invested. After a long introduction (unavoidable after the earthquake), I would like to introduce the content of the concert with your permission. The concert took place in the Volkswagen Arena and it was the most crowded Tamino concert I have ever been to, which made me very happy. As time went on, I began to use the crowds at the concerts as a measure of the increasing number of Tamino’s audiences. The concerts also allowed me to follow his musical development over time. Seeing Tamino grow from his teenage years was an indescribable feeling for me.
In this concert, Tamino mainly played songs from the album “Sahar” released last September. Due to the heavy and dark tone of this album, we slowly swayed from where we stood.
One of the characteristics of Tamino’s concerts is that they follow an otherworldly procedure. This is exactly why I experience catharsis. I often feel like I am participating in a religious ceremony whose name or rules I do not yet know.
What made this concert important and special was that Colin Greenwood, whom we knew from Radiohead, was also on stage. I think this was the first time in Turkey. Also, cellist Frederik Daelemans, who recently joined the group, added a new and unusual flavor to the concert and accompanied Tamino. The most important thing for me was that Tamino played the oud in this concert. The opening piece of the concert was played only by the oud solo. Blood Drop It happened. It’s one of two songs that I hear the strongest Middle Eastern sound from. The other one is my favorite song. The first disciple; But when the part of the song where he plays with oud is played with cello, I am away from the middle eastern feeling. However, since we listened to different versions of the song, I can tolerate it (for once). It was just him and Frederik on the stage, and you can say that he almost played the song solo. Another song I like in Sahar’s album. flameHearing it live was very valuable to me. Sahar played almost the entire album. He gave us information about his new single through two new songs. Although I don’t know the name of one of his songs, from my research it’s called “Ashes” (he asked not to be filmed but if I must give you information, this song reminds me of a song from Radiohead -Karma Police album, I personally witnessed him nodding in this song- for metal fans, it’s a real surprise to see this) but I’m sure about the other one; The oldest piety; I must say I like this song.
Concert Notes:
What was interesting to me was that although it was his first concert with such a big band, he still played some songs solo. It caught my attention because it was something I had never practiced before.
Worth His song is a song that breaks the static flow of his concerts and therefore is a song that suddenly wakes us up. I love hearing this song live! I think he will continue to play this song in all his concerts because he knows this fact. This is my wish as well.
Finally I have to mention; Tamino has become a big shot now and this year’s concert was a declaration of that. His comfort on stage is admirable. The beautiful boy who was motionless with his eyes closed and excited is now a great man who is at ease on stage! It was an amazing feeling to witness this!
I must say I admire the stage lighting as well. I would love to meet him and chat. Who knows, maybe we’ll interview him.

A final note and a small criticism: The concert has lost its ritual due to our excessive use of mobile phones. This happened because I mistakenly changed my ticket from the stands to “normal standing” in order to avoid sitting far away. The mental magic is lost when the mobile phones turn off the stage, because we cannot stay in the present moment, and because of our curiosity to keep filming (I understand those who are filming, but I am sorry, I can’t understand why everyone is filming for so long, please stay in the present moment, dear Tamino lovers).
