25 years ago this week, a new reality show was launched in the Netherlands, called Big Brother. In the latest news, an article titled “TV viewers ask to take part in an experiment that isolates them from the world” appeared, about a “television experiment” initiated by the Dutch TV network “Veronika” that sounded “a bit crazy”: “Eight people will be isolated from the outside world for three months, living together without privacy, and all their every move will be recorded by camera.”
The show that airs at the end of the three months will reportedly be called “Big Brother.” “The idea sounds strange, but the network was flooded with 1,750 applications to participate in the program. The TV network covering the project said that 75% of the volunteers were men, and 60% of them had families and regular jobs.”
From that point on, as mentioned earlier, the rest is history.
