Warriors center Shawn Johnson to announce his The decision to retire at the end of the 2024 NRL season.
Johnson, who turns 34 next month, informed his teammates of his decision on Monday and confirmed it publicly Monday night.
“It’s a decision I’ve been thinking about for a while and I’m probably still trying to adjust to it,” Johnson said while speaking to his teammates.
“Obviously, I’m still young but I’m very grateful to the club and to you guys and I come to work every day with a smile on my face. I never take it for granted.
“The work isn’t done yet, so let’s get back to doing what we need to do, but I first want to let you know that once this season is over, I’m done.”
Johnson will address the media along with Warriors CEO Cameron George and head coach Andrew Webster at 1:15 p.m.
