“No Iraqi government agency was impacted by today’s global disruption of Windows servers,” the center said in a statement. “Our agencies’ systems are operating normally and have not been negatively impacted in any way. Iraq’s transport and communications sectors have not been affected by the global shutdown.”

He added: “Technology systems around the world are witnessing massive failures, suspecting this is one of the largest cyber attacks in history. Here are some details about these failures:

* Sky News in the UK announced that it would stop broadcasting today due to technical problems.

* Flight disruptions at all Spanish airports.

* German airport outages.

* There was a malfunction at Edinburgh Airport in Scotland.

* Dutch airports Schiphol and Amsterdam announced they faced cyber attacks.

* Glitches at US airports.

* The London Stock Exchange announced that its services were affected as a result.

* British Rail announced a failure in its systems.

* The TV channel announced that its broadcast was flawed.

* International banks announced that their systems were flawed.

* Britain’s largest train company has announced it may cancel all services.

* The Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s transmissions were disrupted and there were huge technical problems across the country.

* The U.S. 911 emergency center received tens of thousands of calls and faced tremendous pressure from callers.

He noted that “all of these outages around the world are related to devices running Windows systems,” adding: “We at the Cybersecurity Center are closely monitoring the situation and continuously coordinating with the relevant teams to ensure the protection of information security and technological infrastructure. We will continue to carefully monitor the situation and take all necessary measures to protect the systems in order to ensure the continuation of electronic transactions at Iraqi airports and data centers.”

In this context, the center recommended that “experts in government and semi-government agencies postpone any update process at this time, given the current instability of Windows service infrastructure.”

He urged all agencies to “strengthen cyber protection measures and adhere to best security practices” and stressed the “importance of updating systems and infrastructure regularly, but thoughtfully and in coordination with competent authorities to ensure stable security performance.”

He stressed the need to “educate employees on the importance of cybersecurity and to exercise caution when handling electronic information and unknown attachments”, noting that “employee awareness and training are important components of a cybersecurity strategy and enhance an organization’s ability to address digital challenges”.
