Warisan news chief Aziz Jamman said there must be no further delay in fulfilling the promises of MA63, which is the foundation of Malaysia’s nation-building.

(TMI) – Parti Warisan Sabah has called on the federal government to immediately implement the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

Party information director Azis Jamman said there should be no further delay in fulfilling the promises of MA63, which is the foundation of Malaysia’s nation-building.

“I firmly believe that Sabah’s rights must be realised without delay.

“MA63 was signed, agreed and stamped by the leaders of Sabah, Sarawak (Singapore) and Malaya in 1963, leading to the formation of Malaysia.

“The implementation of MA63 is a constitutional requirement, so there is no need for any further review. Now is the time for implementation,” he said.

Azis, who was previously deputy interior minister, reminded the national leaders that the agreement was not just a 40 percent special revenue grant to the state governments, but also clarified the allocation of funds between the federal government and the state governments through the federal list, state list and concurrent list stipulated in the federal constitution.

“These lists are written into the Constitution to ensure that national and local needs are adequately funded while respecting the autonomy and special considerations of the different states, especially Sabah and Sarawak.

“It is vital that what is already enshrined in the Malaysian Constitution is implemented and respected.

“There should be no more committees, no more discussions, no more negotiations, no more meetings,” he said.

The former Sepangga MP urged the people of Sabah to unite and demand that the federal government respect MA63.
