The non-governmental organization Friends of Animals Podgorica strongly condemns the latest case they know of in Podgorica involving the criminal torturing and killing of animals and the destruction of their habitat.
“In fact, according to our understanding, this is a story about a person who tied a dog to his car and dragged it on the street. Our organization asks the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office to file a lawsuit against this person and order the detention of the same person until the verdict, because of the possibility of influencing witnesses and repeating the same crime”, said the director of the NGO “Friends of Animals in Podgorica”. Dragoje Vlahovic.
Furthermore, considering that it is a crime punishable by imprisonment, they asked for the harshest sentence “to influence others who may commit the same and similar crimes”.
“We remind everyone that a large number of similar crimes have occurred in Montenegro before, but the perpetrators always went unpunished or received the lightest punishment due to inadequate reaction of the Prosecutor’s Office, which led to other perpetrators with motives going unpunished, and due to institutional negligence we have a large number of cases of killing, torturing and poisoning of animals,” Vlahović concluded.
