The event was organized by community members with the consent of Bieri’s mother.

Bieri went missing on August 1 after jumping into the river about 300 metres east of Adelaide Street Bridge in northeast London. Her body was found on Sunday afternoon. Western UniversityLondon police said.

The three-day river search involved multiple agencies, including London police, firefighters and the Ontario Provincial Police, as well as dozens of civilian volunteers.

In an interview with the Free Press earlier this week, her mother expressed gratitude to those searching in the water.

“I wish she was still alive, but I was relieved when they found her.” Karen Fimmel said. “I don’t want her to be lost in the water forever.”

A makeshift memorial for the Northbrae Primary School student was set up on the sidewalk near the Adelaide Street Bridge on Sunday, next to where she fell into the water, with balloons and stuffed animals placed on the bridge railings.

A candlelight vigil is due to take place at 3pm on Sunday in the grounds of Northbrae Public School, 335 Bellfield Street, northeast London.

Organizers are asking everyone planning to attend to bring their own candles and bubbles. Attendees are also encouraged to wear pink, which is Bieri’s favorite color.
