As Vietnamese people are increasingly involved in social life and actively participate, they contribute to the diversity and rich culture of Slovakia.
This year, 18. Augusta National 2024The third Vietnam Day event will be held in Bratislava not only to celebrate Vietnamese culture but also to mark an important milestone – one year since Slovakia recognized the Vietnamese community as an official minority.
The theme of the third festival this year is “Our Common Home”, with which the Vietnamese community hopes to draw attention to the fact that Slovakia – like Slovaks – is also home to many Slovak Vietnamese.
A significant year for Vietnamese society
Last June, it was a historic moment when the Vietnamese community was recognized as a minority. The event meant not only the official recognition of their existence, but also the recognition of the contribution this community brings to Slovak society. Many Vietnamese came to Slovakia during the communist period, mainly as part of work exchange and educational programs. Over time, their numbers have increased, and today they form a visible and active community.
The festival will be an important moment for Vietnamese and Slovaks to meet and get to know each other. It is an opportunity to showcase the richness of Vietnamese culture, traditions, art and cuisine. But most importantly, the festival celebrates friendship and cooperation between communities, overcoming cultural barriers and promoting integration.

A festival of culture, music and food
The festival program is rich and varied. Vietnamese traditional music performances, dances and creative activities await visitors. Music and dance are an integral part of Vietnamese culture, which is why the festival will feature various traditional and modern groups. In addition to traditional music and dance performances, visitors can also look forward to martial arts performances and singing performances by second-generation Slovak Vietnamese. You can also watch a tour of traditional Vietnamese costumes performed by second-generation Slovak Vietnamese.
Food is an equally important part of the festival. Visitors can enjoy traditional dishes such as phở bò, bún chả, nem rán and many other delicacies. The food is not only prepared by professional chefs but also by members of the Vietnamese community, guaranteeing authenticity and quality.

It is important to emphasize that the festival is open to everyone. The organizers believe that in this way they can bring Vietnamese culture closer to the general public and provide an opportunity for mutual understanding.
