Venezuelan opposition wants Spain to ‘step on the pedal’ and recognise Gonzalez

Madrid– Antonio Ledezma, the former mayor of Caracas and the Venezuelan opposition, wants Spain to “step on the gas” to deal with the Venezuelan crisis after the July 28 elections and “recognize” opposition candidates, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutiaas President.

The “thunderous silence” of former President Zapatero

Ledezma also referred to the role of former Spanish President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, a “recognized observer” of Venezuela’s electoral process, who, he believes, has maintained a “thunderous silence” since July 28 last year.

UN panel’s ‘important’ report

Ledezma called “important” the recent report of the UN panel, which questioned the “integrity” of the country’s elections, and insisted that repeating the elections was “unacceptable” because the people “had already made their voice heard” on July 28.

“I hope that effective decisions can be made so that Maduro reverses his attacks on human rights and moves forward to get Edmundo elected president,” he asserted.
