After the announcement of this decision by the Electoral Commission of the Supreme Court (TSJ), the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela addressed the international community through a statement, reporting that the Supreme Court has completed the phase of oral hearings with representatives of political parties and former candidates participating in the presidential elections held on July 28.
Through this letter, Venezuela summarizes the judicial process initiated after the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, filed an appeal over the election dispute.
The main points highlighted by the Electoral Chamber are summarized below:
1. The National Electoral Council (CNE) attended a plenary session with all the principal deans to “fully comply with the requirements established by the Electoral Commission of the Supreme Court (TSJ) to collect all payments related to the electoral process in a timely and timely manner.”
2. “Thirty-eight political organizations that applied timely attended, and thirty-three of them submitted the required electoral materials.”
3. “Of the 10 former candidates mentioned, 9 were present,” including the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros.
4. “Former candidate Edmundo González Urrutia did not appear, thus failing to comply with the subpoena and disregarding the authorization of the Supreme Tribunal of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela’s electoral litigation jurisdiction. He therefore did not comply with the record of the vote tally sheet, the witness list or any electoral material.”
5. Representatives of the political parties New Era (UNT), Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) and Venezuelan Movement (MPV), “all members of the Democratic Unity Platform coalition and the former candidate Edmundo González Urrutia; they have not submitted any electoral materials, claiming that they do not have any type of documents related to this electoral process. In this sense, they said that they have no records of the examination of witnesses, nor a list of witnesses, and further claimed that they were not involved in the process of transferring and keeping any materials.
It should be noted that the TSJ reports that now “judges of the Electoral Chamber are focusing on expert opinions on all electoral materials of evidentiary value recorded in physical and/or digital form, as well as on large-scale network data. The Venezuelan electoral system is under attack and for this purpose this Chamber will have highly qualified and appropriate personnel who will use the highest technical standards.”
In this way, the Supreme Judicial Body guarantees to all citizens of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela that “conflicts concerning only the Venezuelan State” will be resolved sovereignly.
The TSJ noted that once the proceedings are concluded, it will promptly issue “a final ruling in response to this appeal, which will have the nature of res judicata, since this judicial body is the highest judicial body in electoral matters and its decisions are therefore not appealable.”
Opposition extremists did not provide TSJ with election materials
The president of the Supreme Court (TSJ), Caryslia Rodríguez, confirmed on Saturday that representatives of the three political organizations that make up the Democratic Unity Round Table (MUD) have not submitted any type of electoral material requested by the country’s highest judicial body.
Representatives of the parties: Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT), led by Manuel Rosales from the MUD; José Luis Cartaya and José Simón Calzadilla of the Venezuelan Movement (MPV) said that the entire electoral process of the opposition extremism was in the charge of the Soumat organization.
As detailed by Judge Rodriguez, the politicians said the protection of “vote counting records at polling stations, lists of witnesses, and transmission and electoral materials” was the responsibility of Sumate, who served as a technical adviser to the opposition alliance.
During his appearance before the country’s Supreme Court, the political leader confirmed that the burden of information on the alleged censored records on the website “www.resultadospresidencialesvenezuela2024.com” also rests in the hands of Sumate.
Furthermore, he explained that out of a total of 48 citizens summoned to appear before the court, only 33 organizations provided the required materials, while only three former candidates failed to comply with the requirements.
Antonio Ecarri and Simón Calzadilla did not provide the technical materials requested by the Electoral Chamber, and Edmundo González Urrutia did not participate in the conference call.
The TSJ will continue to carry out expert evaluations of electoral materials recorded physically or digitally, with specialized technical personnel for this purpose. Likewise, the decisions taken by this body must be respected by all Venezuelans and political parties.
