Our daily food contains quite a few additives, but according to experts, one of the most common ingredients plays a major role in the development of cancers that affect the intestinal system.
A leading nutritionist has revealed that a food additive found in everything from cakes and mayonnaise to sausages could help with intestinal problems – including For bowel cancer – Clues.
Dr Federica Amati, a researcher at King’s College London, told diet guru Tim Spector’s ZOE podcast: Emulsifier pose serious health risks. They are mixed with food to improve its texture, appearance and shelf life by binding fat and water.

According to Amati, there is growing evidence that these emulsifiers break down the mucus layer that protects the intestinal system, allowing an influx of harmful bacteria. This can lead to an imbalance in the intestinal microbiome and inflammation. This inflammation is the root cause of irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and colitis.
The latest research also links emulsifiers to a rapid increase in the number of bowel cancers. In addition, these types of cancers have begun to spread, especially among young people.
Emulsifiers are most commonly found in ultra-processed foods, which are consumed by people all over the world. His diet 50% can be exposed. While there are also versions made from natural materials, there are also more synthetic versions that we usually cannot identify from the ingredients listed on the packaging.
Additionally, manufacturers do not have to record the amount of emulsifiers in individual foods, which means we never know how much we are consuming, the researchers explain.
