The Taiwanese government condemned China’s military exercises.

Over the past four years, China has regularly conducted military activities around Taiwan in an attempt to put pressure on the Taiwanese government.

Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said on Sunday that troops stationed on Erdan Island, part of the Taiwan-controlled Kinmen Islands adjacent to the Chinese cities of Xiamen and Quanzhou, had found a “crude” cardboard box containing political slogans written in simplified Chinese.

The ministry said the box was suspected to have been dropped by a drone out of sight, adding: “This is a typical cognitive manipulation trick.”

In 2022, Taiwan shot down a drone near Kinmen after complaining about days of harassment.

China’s Ministry of Defense does not answer calls outside of office hours.

Since the exercises began, the Chinese military has been releasing propaganda videos and animations targeting Taiwan.

The Eastern Theater Command, which is in charge of the exercise, broadcast a video of the rocket launch on Sunday, which it called “cross-strait lethality” in English.
