Libreville, Saturday, July 20, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – It constitutes modern equipment for recording online courses and training and support programs for teachers trained in technological teaching.

Professor Slim Khalbous, Rector of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), inaugurated on Wednesday the Libreville Education and Digital Multimedia Laboratory, located on the Digital Campus of the University of Omar Bongo (UOB). Accompanied by the country representative of the institution, Guy Roger Ndong, he announced the launch of a training cycle for teachers to master this tool.

“Today, distance education is booming. The use of technology by university teachers has become very important, and we must have the tools and professional structures to support them in this new teaching method. The educational multimedia laboratories at AUF are first and foremost modern equipment for recording online courses. However, they are also a training and support program for teachers trained in technological teaching. This is where AUF’s real contribution lies,” says Professor Slim Khalbous.

On behalf of the President of UOB, Professor Jean François Owaye thanked AUF for providing this tool which will facilitate e-learning within higher education institutions.

The Libreville Educational Multimedia Laboratory is one of 20 laboratories that AUF has set up in several countries since last year, with a total investment of 520 million CFA francs. Founded 63 years ago, the organization has more than 1,000 members (Grandes écoles, university research centers) in 127 countries and remains the world’s leading university network.

The studio can logistically simplify the creation of educational video content and can also be used for video conferencing, virtual classes or streaming services. It can be used by faculty researchers from UOB and other AUF member institutions.
