Russia is concerned about the expansion of the Ukrainian offensive on its territory, which is now entering its seventh day. That is why Russian authorities have expanded the evacuation map of residents from behind Kursk to Belgorod. With this unexpected attack, the Ukrainians have advanced 30 kilometers into Russian territory in the Kursk region.

As Moscow says it is fighting them and blocking many of their attempts to advance, the Ukrainian army itself has released these videos showing Russian flags being replaced with Ukrainian flags at local administration buildings in villages they control. Russia is trying to avoid a Ukrainian takeover of the Kursk nuclear power plant, which can be seen as a counterweight to Zaporizhia, which Russia seized from Ukraine two and a half years ago when it launched a war in Ukraine.

Fighting broke out again at Zaporizhia headquarters on Monday. Russia said the Ukrainians attacked Russian troops controlling the plant, and both sides accused each other of starting a fire. Smoke could be seen billowing from one of the large chimneys, but the fire was put out during the day and was caused by a falling fire. The burning of a pile of car tires may be to remind the world that the risk of a nuclear crisis caused by the war in Ukraine is very high.
