Libreville, Sunday, August 4, 2024 (Gabon News) – General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, who stayed in Uganda for 48 hours, listened to a presentation on the country’s wealth-creating economic model.
Accompanied by General Salim Saleh, Coordinator of the Wealth Creation Operations Office and Senior Advisor to the President of Uganda on Defense, the Transitional President visited the premises of Fine Spinners, a factory that produces civilian and military clothing from local cotton, and immerses you in the fabric manufacturing and processing processes that meet international standards, from screen printing to threading, knitting and dyeing.
The Head of State, accompanied by First Lady Zita Origi Nguema, also visited a showroom of military uniforms manufactured at the factory before being briefed by the Wealth Creation Business Office.
Ugandan experts took the opportunity to highlight the mechanisms that can make the country food self-sufficient. According to them, these tools include coordinating national institutions, developing mechanized agriculture and industrial parks, strengthening land rights, regulating the informal sector, improving the business environment and creating synergies between African countries.
Behind this speech, the Ugandan President expressed his desire to develop a partnership with Gabon in the fields of agricultural product processing, marketing, industrialization, mining, oil, gas and tourism, which also confirms the Gabonese authorities’ ambition to accelerate the country’s sustainable development.
Gabon, rich in raw materials, is ready to benefit from Uganda’s expertise as part of South-South cooperation to diversify its economy. It is in this sense that General Brice Clotaire Oligie Nguema has asked Uganda to provide expertise in raw material processing and support the training of Gabonese military, health and agricultural managers.
In this sense, we provide instructions to the Gabonese Government to develop this cooperation.
Let’s recall that the vision of the Commission for Institutional Transition and Recovery (CTRI) focuses on economic diversification, the revitalization of agriculture and agricultural areas to ensure the survival of the population, create jobs, fight corruption, reduce the import rate by half by 2025, strengthen the necessary infrastructure and open up to foreign markets.
