Ubisoft has announced that it will delay the launch of its Rainbow Six and The Division mobile games by a few months than expected because the teams developing the two games need time to “meet player expectations.”

The company announced the delay in its latest earnings report, declaring that the two games (which belong to the two Tom Clancy franchises) are no longer expected to debut in the current fiscal year (which ends on March 31 of next year).

Ubisoft said it saw strong growth of 15% in play days across consoles and PC in the first quarter of its fiscal year, which was “primarily” driven by games as a service (GaaS).

As stated in this report, developer representative XDefiant commented that “it’s off to an encouraging start” and that Rainbow Six Siege “started the year with a solid performance.”

Considering new releases for the rest of the fiscal year, Ubisoft said it will release Assassin’s Creed: Shadow and Star Wars Outlaws, both of which will be released before the end of August 30. However, the same is “not expected” to happen with Rainbow Six Mobile (expected to be released in 2022) and The Division: Resurgence (also planned for the end of last year).

The delay in its release is due to the development team “taking the necessary time to ensure these experiences meet player expectations.”

To that end, the game developers are optimizing key performance indicators (KPIs) “in the context of a demanding but scalable market,” according to the earnings report.
