UAW president slams Trump as ‘bad guy’ after Republican National Convention speech

“Over the weekend, we saw that the need to take action against political violence is not a partisan issue; it is a matter of public safety and common sense,” Frost wrote. (Rep. The entire letter urged Johnson Human Resources698assault weapons ban, and HR 8600McBath’s bill would have banned gas-powered guns like the ones used by Trump’s attackers and put them up for a vote. The assault weapons ban was first proposed in February 2023, and McBath took over as lead sponsor of the bill in June of that year.

“What we saw on July 14, 2024, is that the need to act against political violence is not a partisan issue but a matter of public safety and common sense,” Frost and McBath wrote in the letter. “The Speaker of the House should not have waited until the former president was assassinated to act. Failure to respond in the face of a brazen attack would almost certainly provoke future tragedies.”
