The launch of the Consular Window Pilot Program at the U.S. Embassy in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, marks an important step in U.S.-Tonga relations. The program follows the official opening of the U.S. Embassy in the Kingdom of Tonga on August 28.
The consular window pilot program will provide basic services to U.S. citizens and non-immigrant visa services to all Tongan residents. Available visa types include B1, B2, B1/B2, F1, F2, J1, J2, M1, M2, and R visas.
The consular window will be visited quarterly by the consular team at the U.S. Embassy in Suva and will only accommodate visa applicants who have made an appointment in advance. https://www.usvisascheduling.com/
U.S. State Department Undersecretary Kurt M. Campbell, who led the U.S. delegation to the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting, cut the ribbon for the consular window, and was joined by Ambassador Marie C. Damour, Deputy Chief of Delegation Heather Coble, and Economic and Political Advisor Brad Coley.
The Tongan Government was represented at the event by the Honourable Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliku, Privy Councillor Viliami Malolo, Minister of Foreign Affairs ‘Ilaisipa ‘Alipate and the Governor of the Tonga National Reserve Bank Tatafu Moeaki.
The pilot opening of the consular window demonstrates the two countries’ commitment to building closer ties and enhancing services for their citizens and residents.
