In the Chelyabinsk region, two villages were liquidated: Varvarinka in the Oktyabrskaya district and Bashkirovo in the Breginsky district. Report At the Regional Legislative Assembly Press Office.
The decision to remove Valvalinka and Bashkirovo from the map of the Chelyabinsk region was made by the Committee for Legislation, State Building and Local Self-Government, as the two villages have been without a single resident for a long time. Thus, the last resident of Valvalinka was written off about 17 years ago. In addition, the villages lack road and transport infrastructure, engineering communications, as well as social, cultural and living facilities.
Earlier this year, Congressman State Duma Sergey Kolunov proposed relocating impoverished Russians to abandoned villages in an effort to “revive” the settlements.
