Two men from Gregory Park in St Catherine were given suspended sentences on Friday for killing a dog and wounding each other.
Antoine Rodway was found guilty of unlawful wounding and received a two-year suspended sentence, while Rashid Bent pleaded guilty to the offence and received a one-year suspended sentence.
Senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne warned both defendants to remain peaceful as she handed down the verdict.
The court heard that on October 13, 2023, Bent allegedly killed Rodway’s dog with a knife and was then attacked by Rodway.
The two men fought and stabbed each other. Bent was reportedly stabbed multiple times and was hospitalized for seven days.
Police immediately launched an investigation and arrested and charged two men.
They are represented by attorneys Steven Jackson and Dennis Walker.
