“Turkey’s intervention has led the international community to recognize and respond to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza,” an anonymous source told Reuters.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said earlier this week that Istanbul would issue a statement on the case today.
In May, Turkey announced it would join South Africa’s lawsuit over the intensification of measures against Israel over the Gaza attacks, adding that its request would be accompanied by the necessary legal preparations.
Israel has repeatedly denied the genocide charges as baseless and argued in court that the Gaza operation was in self-defense and was directed only against Hamas militants who attacked Israel on October 7.
