Asked if the competition was beneficial, Trossard added: “Yes, of course. I think you can also see on the pitch that I feel good and I’ve shown that over the last few months and that also helps the team and pushes everyone in every position. That’s what a club like Arsenal needs.”

I always want to have an impact and it’s great to help the team again. I’m very happy with the goal and the win.

“Some games have different celebrations and emotions. I heard Saliba in my ear telling me to celebrate, so I did it.

“It’s nice if your team-mates are happy for you to score a goal and I think we really needed it at that point in the game and it gave us the motivation to win the game.”

“It’s something you have to develop. I know the competition in the team and it pushes everyone to the next level.”

“I’m just happy to be able to come in and make an impact and help the team and it’s a great win for us.”
