Erling Haaland is following Rocky’s style in his preparations for the new Premier League season. Manchester City’s “Assassin” striker was absent all summer due to Norway’s failure to qualify for the 2024 European Championship in Germany. The 23-year-old Haaland is enjoying a well-deserved break after helping Manchester City win four consecutive titles.
But the striker’s break is over as he prepares for the new season. He’s been given some old-fashioned training by his father, former Manchester City and Leeds United defender Alf Inge. The Premier League’s top scorer for the past two seasons has been strengthening himself by running through the woods, chopping wood, just like Sylvester Stallone did in Rocky IV. Haaland revealed his training methods in videos on his, Site X and Instagram profiles.
Comment – The video states: “Going up the hill to chop wood is the most Erling Haaland thing I’ve ever heard.” The former Dortmund striker then said: “My father forced me, I had no choice.” Fans immediately commented on the video, with one writing: “Haaland is a different breed.”
“Real fathers let their sons work in the woods,” said another. “…his dad is a real Viking.” Other comments read: “Normal Viking behavior. Nothing new.” Haaland has a balanced strength training session and quiet meditation by the river.
City will hope his unorthodox training methods will ensure he gets off to a strong start to the new season. The Norwegian scored 38 goals and provided six assists in 45 appearances last season. However, those numbers are still a far cry from his goalscoring numbers in his first season at the Etihad Stadium (52 goals and nine assists).
