A tragedy occurred at the Tapuhia landfill in Waini on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a 32-year-old man from Ngelea. The victim was operating a heavy mechanical loader when the machine overturned, trapping him underneath.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, rescued the man and rushed him to Vaiola Hospital. Despite their efforts, the man died shortly after arriving at the hospital from severe internal injuries and fractures.
Tonga Police have launched an investigation into the accident and a coroner’s inquest will be held once the investigation is complete to determine the details of this tragic incident.
