Quito woke up on Thursday, June 6, to overcast skies and light rain, which apparently made the roads slippery in many places and caused a traffic accident involving three vehicles.
At 7:45 am, an emergency occurred on the Interoceanic Highway in Miravalle 3. This highway connects the Tumbaco Valley to the capital.

According to the information from the ECU911 Integrated Safety Service Center, there were three vehicles involved in the accident. It is reported that no one was seriously affected at the scene.
Agency of Metropolitan Transportation (AMT) crews arrived at the scene and attempted to expedite vehicle traffic in the area.
Drivers said traffic was heavy as it was rush hour, with thousands of people travelling from surrounding parishes to the capital for work or study.

The cause of the incident remains unclear to date; the vehicles will be removed from the scene once security agencies or private insurance companies gather relevant evidence. (I)
