Dozens of residents in Stara Zagora have been fined for drinking in public. Under the city’s public order regulations, the ban applies to parks, gardens and inter-block spaces.
The joint initiative with law enforcement agencies aims to provide a more peaceful and secure environment, with a particular focus on road safety. The measure is preventive in nature, in response to the increasing number of traffic accidents in the region.
The head of the “Maintenance of Public Order” department, Plamen Todorov, commented: “Summer attracts companies to the park, which requires strengthening the control of alcohol consumption. The decree of the Stara Zagora Municipality explicitly prohibits the use of alcohol. Our observations suggest that violators are identified and specific administrative measures are taken against them, especially in case of pollution of park space.”
