Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler said today that he would not mind working with the Leader of the Opposition to get Vybz Kartel to come to Belize. However, his comments did not come without a few jibes at Moses Shyne Barrow. According to Mahler, Barrow, who has served as Belize’s music ambassador, had previously made promises. So far, Mahler said he is still waiting on Jay-Z, P-Diddy and other celebrities who have not delivered on their promises. In addition, Mahler also said he is willing to conduct an audit of the Belize Music and Food Festival that Barrow has been requesting.

Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler: “We published the report on our website and will publish it again. In fact, he called me and said he wanted to go there with me to show bipartisanship, and I waited for him for a long time, but he never showed up. But he apologized because his party was in chaos, and I thought it was more urgent than him meeting the Vybz Cartel or attending the festival.”
reporter: He also said he wants you to meet him and welcomes the cartel to Belize for tourism.
Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler: “Well, I don’t know what value it will bring, but exposure is exposure, so we’ll see how it goes. We heard Khalid is coming, but he’s not here yet, we heard Jay Z is coming, but he’s not here yet, we heard PDiddy is coming… is he in jail? So we’ll see. I like Vybz’s music, though.”
Opposition Leader Barrow called for an audit of the festival at a media conference last Tuesday.
