TNM Plc, Malawi’s pioneering mobile network and digital solutions provider, has launched a series of fintech innovations aimed at increasing its customers’ access to cash flow.


TNM said in a statement that the new products include e-SIM technology, micro merchant wallet, Mpamba Fast Pay and Mpamba Salary Overdraft – all designed to improve convenience, accessibility, productivity and efficiency for users.
The telecom company added that the new range of products will significantly deepen digital financial inclusion and put Malawi on the path to environmentally friendly consumption of telecommunications services and products.
Furthermore, TNM Chief Executive Officer, Michelle Herbert said these innovations are designed to meet real needs and bring the ultimate experience to the people of Malawians, stressing that these innovations are designed to bring the people of Malawians in line with global telecommunications and fintech trends.

“The launch of these innovations is therefore a testament to our commitment to revolutionise Malawi’s digital landscape,” Michelle said.
Through these innovations, TNM envisions creating a digitally enhanced society where people benefit more from the services provided, Herbet said: “We are delighted to launch these innovations, which reflect our commitment to enhance the digital experience of our customers.
“By leveraging cutting-edge technology and addressing real-world needs, we aim to provide solutions that are more convenient, empowering and financially sound.”
Herbert added that the introduction of these innovations marks a significant advancement in mobile connectivity and mobile money: “Embedded SIM (eSIM) innovation simplifies the user experience, provides greater flexibility and enhanced security.
“This provides us with an unparalleled customer experience and convenience on Malawi’s best 4G and only 5G network. Micro Merchant Wallet, on the other hand, aims to empower small business owners and entrepreneurs by providing them with affordable and user-friendly mobile payment solutions.
“For customers of small businesses, this provides the convenience of making payments without the risk of carrying cash. This allows both merchants and customers to experience a secure transaction environment.”
Regarding the new Mpamba Quick Pay feature, Herbet said it is designed to “simplify the payment process and make transactions faster and more convenient”.
“Using their smartphones, customers can simply scan a QR code at the cashier to make payments. The revolutionary Mpamba salary overdraft service will allow salaried employees to quickly advance their salaries directly into their Mpamba wallet.
“By providing wage advances directly through the Mpamba wallet, TNM Mpamba addresses the fundamental need for financial flexibility,” Herbert said.
