Tinder has launched a new photo picker feature, powered by artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which will help users choose the best photo for their profile from a recommended selection of their device gallery.
The dating platform says it encourages users to show their truest personalities on the app through their profile photos. However, 52% of the “app’s” users said they had a hard time choosing the most appropriate image for them.
In this sense, it has launched its new Photo Picker tool, which it defines as a “digital companion” that offers a wide selection of photos from the user’s camera roll, helping them find the image in their profile that best represents their personality.
Specifically, as the company explained in a statement, it’s an AI-powered feature designed to reduce the time it takes users to select a profile photo, which in some cases averages out to 33 minutes for people between the ages of 18 and 24.
Finally, users themselves can choose the photos they want to post on their profile from the image selection performed by the photo picker. The platform says that in this way, users will be able to focus their time on connecting with other people on the app “rather than spending too much time choosing photos”.
Likewise, as Tinder CEO Faye Iosotaluno said in this regard, the company develops AI technology to “help make decisions, not make decisions for users.” Likewise, he clarified that the company’s commitment is clear and the same applies to its AI vision. “At Tinder, we want to develop innovative technology that creates a safer space for people to make real connections,” said Iosotaluno.
That said, Tinder notes that users in certain regions, including Spain and the UK, will be able to choose their best photos with the help of a photo picker starting in late summer.
