Timor-Leste attended the 16th ASEAN Political-Security Community Coordination Meeting (16th ASCCO) held at the ASEAN Headquarters in Jakarta on May 9, 2024.
The main objectives of the meeting are to analyze the implementation of the ASEAN Political-Security Community Action Plan until 2025 and to address cross-cutting issues within ASEAN. 
During the meeting, Timor-Leste stressed the key role played by the ASEAN Political-Security Community in promoting dialogue, cooperation and stability in the region. The country thanked the ASEAN Secretariat for sharing information on Timor-Leste’s progress in implementing the Action Plan, and thanked all ASEAN member states and the ASEAN Secretariat for supporting Timor-Leste’s full membership in ASEAN. 
The meeting was attended by leaders of the ASEAN SOM (Senior Officials Meeting), APSC sector agencies and related entities. The Timor-Leste delegation was led by Elisa Maria da Silva, Director-General for ASEAN Affairs, accompanied by Ambassador Natércia Coelho, Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to ASEAN in Jakarta, Counselor Crisogno de Araujo and ASEAN Liaison Officer Ivan Alves.
