Yesterday, Sunday, displaced people from across the Tigray region held peaceful demonstrations demanding to return to their villages.
Thousands of internally displaced people who marched in the city of Mekelle asked, “Let us return to our villages by June 30, as promised by the government;”
During the rally, Getachew Reda, chairman of the region’s interim government, said the evacuees had marched several times and said, “The current rally will be the last,” he said.
The President said he would work to ensure that the transportation of displaced persons would not present any security issues.
