Here are highlights from the Jets’ first preseason game against the Commanders on Saturday.

1. You won’t see any of the Jets’ starting offensive line, but the Jets know they’ll need backups to compete this season.

They are always like this.

This game will give us a feel for the Jets’ depth.

Let’s start with first-round pick Olu Fashanu and see how he performed in his first game.

But Carter Warren and Max Mitchell also have something to prove.

2. Will McDonald has a great opportunity to prove he deserves more playing time this season.

The 2023 first-round pick should see considerable playing time in this game.

He needs to get to the quarterback.

With Haason Reddick still hanging around, McDonald is getting more reps than he has in training camp.

He needs to prove to the coaches that he is ready to play a big role this season.

3. Xavier Gipson and Jason Brownlee were two surprising players last summer.

Both unsigned free agents made the team last year and saw considerable playing time.

Now, they are no longer the weaker party.

The Jets’ wide receiver bench is overcrowded and these two players will need to fight for their roles.
