Couple brings ‘European countryside’ to city apartment – Star

HanoiThe homeowners demolished two apartments and named their living space “Harmony House” in a farmhouse style.

The apartment is 200 square meters. Farmhouse is an interior design style inspired by farms in the quiet countryside of European countries such as France, England, Italy… Born in the 16th and 17th centuries. This style has a simple, rustic style and is suitable for nature lovers who want to be at one with plants and flowers.

When dividing the two apartments, the owners were initially quite confused about the functional division of the rooms.

The common living area is a connecting space between two existing apartments. The architect team aimed to create a most spacious common space where the girls can play freely and the whole family can do leisure activities together. Or when the adults are cooking or reading, they can still see the baby playing in the house. In addition, it is also a solution that limits the transformation of other spaces without incurring costs.

Therefore, the architects suggested focusing on basic functions and creating communal spaces – a place to connect family members – based on the basic needs of the homeowners.

The apartment features Sea Salt Blue (a light grey) as a highlight on a soft creamy white background.

The furniture in the space is not too elaborate, made of American oak and Belgian felt.

Every space in the house is designed to be light, intimate and warm.

The homeowners liked a large shoe cabinet, so the architect chose the lobby of the larger apartment as the shoe cabinet here.

The project took about four months to build. The cost of design, construction, renovation (including air conditioning, water, electricity, sanitary equipment, electronic equipment) and interior decoration was about VND 2.2 billion.

The apartment’s bathroom-cum-toilet area.

The highlight of the space is the felt bed with wallpaper pattern. The dressing table is designed to be small and exquisite to meet the requirements of the female owner.

The highlight of the bedroom interior is the glass cabinet system that displays the homeowner’s branded handbags.

Previously, the public study room was the master bedroom. After much discussion and persuasion, the architect and the homeowner agreed to remove the shower and toilet area and expand the room to provide a space for the whole family to work and study.

The girls’ bedroom also features a softly patterned wallpaper. This space is where the kids can relax after school.
