The San Ignacio/Santa Elena Town Council has seen some turmoil in recent weeks, and it may have gotten worse since Mayor Earl Trapp publicly called for Patrick Faber to be expelled from the UDP. We’ll bring you more details, but first, we bring you confirmed reports of Town Administrator Anthony Cal’s resignation. This is the third town administrator to resign since Trapp was re-elected earlier this year. Senior officials from the party and the town council said the administrator is tired of political interference and mismanagement of funds. Mayor Earl Trapp had promised to be interviewed tonight, but later refused to take our calls. We also tried to reach Cal for comment, but our calls and texts went unanswered. The best news for our newsroom is that there may be some possible levers and powers at play as the national party council meeting approaches. Matthew Preston, a resident of the twin towns, said he was not surprised by Cal’s resignation. Preston had joined the PUP in the race for the mayoral position back in March. According to him, he had raised the alarm about the misuse of council funds about a year ago.
