More than 570,000 – officers of the Podlaskie State Tax Administration (KAS) from Buziosko foiled the smuggling of such a large number of packets of cigarettes. The contraband was hidden in a truck loaded with oatmeal. The discovery was made near the Polish-Lithuanian border. The truck was X-rayed. Its driver, a 45-year-old Ukrainian, had documents confirming the transport of grain. The market value of the illegal cigarettes found in cartons is estimated at more than 8.5 million zlotys. “The Suwałki District Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into smuggling activities. The Ukrainian citizen has been provisionally arrested for 3 months. He faces up to 10 years in prison,” the Podlaskie State Tax Administration informs.
