Panama City, August 7 (LANA) – Panamanian social organizations and popular movements today rejected the capitulation and servitude of the current government towards the interventionist policy of the United States in its attacks on Venezuela.

On social networks, groups such as the National Front for the Defense of Economic and Social Rights (Frenadeso) questioned the presence of General Laura Richardson, commander of the Southern Command, in the Isthmus and her recent meeting with host President José Raul Mulino and Security Minister Frank Abrego, as well as Foreign Minister Javier Martínez-Acha.

During that meeting, Moulino gave instructions to the prime minister and asked Washington to support his initiative to invite 17 leaders of the Western Hemisphere to meet in Panama this month to issue a joint statement on Venezuela and seek a peaceful solution to the conflict in that South American country.

The two sides also discussed the increasing number of irregular migrants crossing the Darien jungle and the ongoing threat of drug trafficking and organized crime.

Richardson also promised to provide more help to Panama’s security forces by assisting in the maintenance of the National Air Service (Senan) helicopters, which for popular movements such as Frenela del Sol would mean an increase in foreign military presence and the dangers it poses to the region.

Richardson and Abrego also signed a memorandum of understanding to improve air, maritime and land domain knowledge between the two countries, renewing the original agreement signed in 2014.

The political analysis magazine El Periódico de Panamá questioned the media offensive launched by the opposition and the international right against the results of the July 28 election, which saw Nicolás Maduro re-elected president with 51.2% of the vote.

The outlet published details of a video by Colombian lawyer David Porras, in which he claimed that he had found “multiple irregularities” in the page promoted by María Corina Machado, such as the location where “detailed results” and “tabulation-by-tabulation” electoral records were published.

Porras, who is also a human rights defender, added that he found that the alleged minutes did not have the signatures of witnesses and machine operators. Maduro himself confirmed that what is happening in Venezuela “is a coup directed by the United States and the international fascist right wing,” along with tycoon Elon Musk, Argentine President Javier Milley and “all the fascists and extremists in the world.” “

He claimed that Venezuela’s entire communications system had been subjected to an unprecedented brutal attack, including the National Electoral Council, 25 domain name sites dedicated to different matters, and the Patria system dedicated to sending bonuses to Venezuelans.

“We do not interfere in the internal affairs of the United States or any other country, what we want is respect, and no one interferes in Venezuela’s affairs,” he said, stressing that they will move forward peacefully with the constitution in hand and in the favor of God.
