They arrested a man in Kenya who confessed to killing and dismembering 42 women

NAIROBI – Kenyan police arrested a man early Monday who confessed to murdering 42 women after the dismembered bodies of at least eight women were found at a landfill in a marginal Nairobi neighborhood since Friday, the Office of Criminal Investigation (DCI, in English).

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to cheating, killing and dumping the bodies of 42 women at the landfill, all of which were murdered between 2022 and the latest date of July 11, 2024,” said DCI Director Amin Mohamed.

The suspect, named as Collins Jomaisi Khalisia, 33, confessed that all the women were murdered in the same manner and his first victim was his wife, “whom he strangled and then dismembered and dumped in a landfill,” he detailed. Mohammed.

Police arrested Kalizia at around 1:00 a.m. local time on Monday at a bar where he was watching the European Cup final, after tracking him down through mobile money transactions on one of the victims’ phones.

Following his arrest, his residence was searched and several items were found, including 24 SIM cards, eight mobile phones, a laptop, two pairs of women’s underwear, a machete believed to have been used to dismember the victims, and plastic bags similar to those used to dispose of the bodies in landfills.

As the investigation continued, Mohammed said, “It became increasingly clear that we were dealing with a psychopathic serial killer who had no respect for human life.”

On Sunday, the DCI revealed that the eight women found dead so far were aged between 18 and 30, and explained that they were considering different hypotheses, ranging from a sect linked to criminal activity to a serial killer or a “corrupt doctor”.

The discovery of dismembered and mutilated bodies in various states of decay at an old quarry turned garbage dump in Mukuru, southeast of the Kenyan capital, shocked the East African nation.

This Saturday, Kenyan President William Ruto He asked the police to speed up the investigation into the mysterious deaths. “All those involved in the brutal killings of young Kenyans will face the full wrath of the law,” Ruto said at an event in Elgeyo-Marakwete County (West), calling for an “expedited” investigation to “get to the truth.”

This is not the first time such an incident has occurred in Kenya, with human rights groups such as Amnesty International (AI) reporting in January 2022 that 31 bodies had been dumped in the Yala River (West) since mid-2021, a figure the police stood at 19th.
