“According to the decision of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, our students who are citizens of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will follow the same principles as Turkish citizen students in terms of contributions, fees and tuition fees,” said Erol Özvar, Chairman of the Higher Education Council (YÖK).
YÖK Chairman Erol Özvar said in a written statement that paragraph 9 was added to Article 3 of the decision on the determination of student contributions and tuition fees in the current cost of services of higher education institutions for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Ozval stressed that it has been stipulated that students of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus nationals who enroll in state universities within the international student enrollment quota do not have to pay any tuition fees.
Will start this year
Ozwal used the following words in his statement:
– With regard to the provisions of this paragraph, the Executive Council of Higher Education made a decision on September 13, 2023, the implementation of which will begin in the academic year 2024-2025, based on the contribution of the Strategic and Budgetary Presidency and the decision of the President.
– On the other hand, Article 1, Paragraph 6 of the Decision stipulates that, as in previous years, students who are TRNC citizens and enrolled in state universities through the ÖSYM centralized placement test will not have to pay any fees.
– In summary; all students who are citizens of North Carolina and have completed their secondary education in North Carolina do not have to pay any fees during the course, regardless of whether they are enrolled at a state university through the Foreign Student Examination or the Higher Education Institution Examination. Students who go beyond the scope of the course or enroll in a second university only have to pay a contribution fee.
