US Air Force F-22 fighter jets have arrived in the Middle East in anticipation of an Iranian attack on Israel, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.
“US Air Force F-22 fighter jets arrived at the US Central Command area of responsibility on August 8 as part of a shift in the US military’s posture in the region to mitigate the potential for escalation in the region,” the statement said.
The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and its multiple fighter jets have been deployed to the region since the beginning of the month.
Iran has vowed to retaliate after the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which Iran and Hamas blame on Israel.
